Leonard Bernstein’s music and Steven Sondheims lyrics modernised the story of Romeo and Juliet onto the streets of New York where the star crossed lovers are drawn from warring factions the Jets and the Sharks.

This is a rare original set of 8x UK front-of-house lobby cards for WEST SIDE STORY (1961) starring Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer, Russ Tamblyn and Rita Moreno. Directed by Robert Wise and Jerone Robbins.

Each card measures 10 x 8 inches and they are in VERY GOOD condition.

What is a ‘front of house’ lobby card? Lobby cards were a unique set of images distributed to cinemas at the same time as a movie poster. In the United Kingdom these images measured 10 x 8 inches and were displayed at the entrance to a cinema, hence the term ‘front of house’. Lobby cards are considered to be as important as an original movie poster and are much sought after by collectors.
