Lobby Cards

Lobby cards were a unique set of usually eight images that were distributed to cinemas at the same time as a movie poster. Lobby cards are considered to be as important as an original movie poster and are much sought after by collectors.

American lobby cards measure 11×14 inches and were typically displayed in the lobby of a cinema (hence the term ‘lobby card’). Sometimes one of these cards would show the name of the movie with elaborate artwork – this card is often referred to as the ‘title card’.

In the United Kingdom lobby cards measured 10×8 inches were usually displayed in special cabinets at the front of a cinema (hence the term ‘front of house’).
