What is ‘linen backing’? Linen backing is a process of professionally cleaning a poster before mounting it on to a piece of linen. Not only does this drastically improve the appearance of the poster (such as ironing out creases and removing dirt from the surface) but it eliminates any acids or chemicals which can cause long term deterioration of the paper. Many collectors consider this process of conservation as a means of investing in a posters long term value. Although we do not provide a linen backing service we occasionally offer posters for sale which have undergone this expensive process.
